Brief

Our clients had completed a major renovation and required landscaping for the entire site, including a new driveway plus a new front fence and automatic sliding driveway gate. They wanted garden beds plus a large lawn at the front. They required screening from the neighbours along one side. A massive Black Walnut tree at the rear created a beautiful focal point for the rear garden.

Solution

We installed plants to soften the house and views, while leaving plenty of lawn for the kids to play. We planted Slender Weavers Bamboo along the length of the block where screening was required from the neighbours. This bamboo quickly forms a dense, tall screen without spreading and becoming a pest as many of the bamboos varieties planted in the 1970’s and 80’s did.

We left the original plants under the Walnut Tree untouched, so as not to disturb the tree further than the renovation already had. Instead, we installed a large up-light under the tree, to make the tree a striking feature at night.
