Brief

The client brief was for a “lush, British Colonial” garden from what was essentially a flat area of dirt following an extensive house renovation. The client was keen to introduce pink into her garden to pick up on the predominant interior colour palette. She also wanted something attractive to look at from her kitchen window, areas to entertain, plus some lawn for the dog.

Solution

The small garden was divided into five separate zones, to maximise utility, make the garden appear larger and to create interest.

Towards the rear of the property, an undercover dining space, a tumbled limestone paved area and a lawn were constructed to spill from the living areas of the house.

A fence between these zones and the front garden and concrete aggregate driveway offers screening and privacy.

An irrigated vertical garden elevates the appeal of the dining area and creates a stunning view from the kitchen window.

Mass lush plantings, with pops of pink, will grow over the next couple of years to cover the fences and provide a British Colonial-inspired retreat. Subtle garden lighting brings the garden to life for evening entertaining and creates a welcoming space to come home to after a day of work.
