Brief

Our client wanted a refresh of his front garden. He also wanted us to transform a rectangle of patchy lawn in his rear garden into a seating area for a fire pit. Our client loves red and requested the incorporation of red foliage and flowers.

Solution

The front garden had been highly eclectic and we introduced more repetition and symmetry to restore the formality of the garden and to ensure balance and calm. To introduce more red, and to tie in with existing plants, we installed rows of maples - weeping maples with year round red and purple leaves, against upright maples with green foliage which turns red in autumn. We also replaced highly mixed and tired plantings with rows of red flowering camellias and azaleas.

In the rear, we installed a merbau deck with integrated seat, stained a rich red tone. We also installed a pond with red water lillies and incorporated red leafed foliage into the garden.
