Brief

Our clients wanted a garden that reflected the ‘bushy’ feel of their surroundings but also wanted something quite striking and unusual.

Solution

We skewed the colour palette of our plant design towards grey, silver and blue to stand out against near black cladding of the house.

As part of meeting the brief for ‘striking and unusual’, we planted two drifts of Eucalyptus pulverulenta ‘Baby Blue’, for its highly architectural and fabulous foliage.

We then planted three Smoke Bush (Cotinus coggygria ‘Grace’)- a variety whose leaves change colour across the seasons from reddish/purple in Spring, greenish in Summer and then bright oranges in Autumn. The idea was to add a dramatic feature against the rest of the plant palette and the house (we will return in Autumn to update the photos here as these photos only show the trees with greenish foliage).
