Brief

Our clients live close to the beach and wanted a relaxed, low maintenance front garden reflective of the coastal lifestyle they enjoy. Their garden contained some beautiful plants which suited this scheme and they already had painted sleeper retaining walls and stairs in place.

Solution

We started by removing plants that did not fit a coastal theme and bought in a palette of grasses, succulents and natives commonly found along the nearby beach areas. We chose predominantly plants of muted greys, blues and dusty pale greens to create a calm, relaxed feel. We replaced the existing pine bark mulch with compacted Dromana Dust to mimic a coastal environment. A weathered sleeper path was installed through the centre of the garden to further create a coastal vibe. As the garden grows, height and dimension will be added by plantings of Pride of Madeira and Sheoak.
